Has Shepard Fairey sold out?

Surly you all know who Shepard Fairey is? Just incase you don't he's the man behind Obey and Andre the Giant and the question is has Shepard Fairey sold out?

Weird question to ask you may think but recently some of his work was defaced somebody scrawled a large dollar sign on Andre the Giant's forehead along with tears streaming down the giant's fat cheeks and Shepard took this as a personal remark on him and his work. here's what Shepard had to comment about the incident "Some people define things as cool not by the amount of integrity they have but by how underground they are."

Now I agree with what Shepard said there but I do think people are also fickle and will move on to the "next big thing" rapidly, personally I like what Shepard's about I think that we are very close in our beliefs and some of our cultural background I do struggle with some art and design that's makes cultural references to a particular place and I personally feel isolated by them a perfect example is the Obama design I really struggle to understand why anybody in the UK would be interested in Obama or want to wear the design on a t-shirt, yeah great may be the first black US president but who really cares?
