Leeds By Example Goes Live

Following the huge success of the ‘LeedsByExample’ album, this October will see the first and highly anticipated ‘LeedsByExample Live’ HipHop night.

‘LeedsByExample’ is a project that has brought together the city’s very best up-and-coming hip hop artists. The album was released in April 2006 to huge acclaim from both the local and national music press whilst receiving airplay on numerous radio stations.

Jamie Donoughue, one of the directors of ‘LeedsByExample’ comments;

“We were overwhelmed by the success of the first album and the exposure we gained for Leeds across the UK. The live night will celebrate the fantastic achievements of everyone involved and showcase a selection of artists from the album as well as some new faces on the hip hop scene”

The night will be headlined by ‘Breaking The Illusion’, one of the most exciting up n coming bands on the Leeds Music Scene. Since the release of the LBE Album, ‘Breaking The Illusion’ have gone on to do a tour of festivals including performing at Glastonbury 2007. They have recently recorded a live session for BBC Radio 1 at their Maida Vale studios.

Jamie continues;

“A lot of acts have gone onto to establish themselves within the UK music scene and confirmed Leeds not only as a hotbed for music talent, but also the home of new UK Hip Hop”

The night will also see ‘Junkyard Tactics’ perform, probably the most established and longstanding Leeds based act. They feature a wealth of talent within their ranks made up of several members of the highly respected, “Invizible Circle”

‘9 Lives Clik’ made up of Eliphino, Chief Wiggum, Haiku & Pro-Optic have performed together for the past few years supporting some Hip Hop veterans such as Jazzy Jeff and ?uestlove. Producer Eliphino's debut release “Out of Phase” was nominated for best album at the Leeds Independent Music Awards.

Other acts include, ‘Northern Hostility’, a collective of DJ’s and MC’s from across the city including the renowned Leeds turntablist ‘DJ Sinical’. Expect a number of other surprise acts too, including live breakers and VDJs.

The night will take place on Thursday 11th October at ‘The HiFi Club’ in Leeds City Centre. Tickets are priced at £6 and available from ‘Jumbo Records’ and online at wegottickets.co.uk and leedshiphopscene.co.uk
