Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?
We know that at sturban clothing we are watched a lot by not only customers but the industry some friendly some not, the other day we made a post Beating the Credit Cash Crunch anyway in that post we made a mention of how some retail sites split the VAT off there price so that they appear cheap and it’s not until you get to the checkout that they add the VAT back on. Well we had an email from a friendly competitor of ours no names mentioned and he stated he liked the dig at a certain site about the VAT issue.
The conversation continued over a number of emails and he asked how we could afford to offer Free shipping worldwide adding that it must cost us a fortune and it does, we added that we may at some time in the near future be stopping that. Any way the conversation went backwards and forwards and he stated how he watches various clothing sites and that he had been thinking of doing the VAT trick as it seemed to work. Now at sturban clothing we have always been straight forward and upfront in the trade people know they can ask us questions and we will be honest even if they don’t like our answers but this leads to our position on how we do business we don’t con people, we don’t trick people and try and make it as clear as possible what people are getting and what people are paying for there’s nothing hidden and on nasty surprises and that is why we would NEVER show a price on a retail site that is aimed at private individuals who mainly reside within the EU without VAT because one it’s only makes the price look cheaper but it isn’t and if people are prepared to rip you off and lie at that level what else are they prepared to do?
Now let get this straight I own sturban clothing and have been running it for over 8 years I hold a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) I have letters after my name, not that I would ever be pretentious enough to use them I understand business and marketing but there’s a certain ethic that I live my life by and it’s be honest and whenever any of our business partners are never that honest with us we cut them off, CLEAN OFF and that’s what you should be doing with companies that lie and defraud you. Strong words I now but what’s your feeling, your online do you shop at places that lie and cheat you out of money?
