Lumberjack Shirts and Hooded Shirts

We haven’t said much about coming trends recently other than in the our newsletter and there’s a lot happening with the new Aut/Win season upon us so here’s our take on what’s happening and we are going to have to split this over a couple of posts this one being shirts.

The major thing with shirts this season has to be the lumberjack look or plaid design if you haven’t already seen it where have you been? Well the whole lumberjack / Trucker look as been rocked across New York and many major cities for awhile now but it’s finally hitting many of the brands we stock such as Ambiguous and Fly53 but you will find some early example in Ezekiel and Mada with some plaid used in cowboy style shirts.

So Ambiguous must have the biggest offering of plaid with shirts, overshirts and jackets all in the infamous plaid and here’s a few below.

Fly53 have gone for the bright look and personally I like it.

The other big look this season has to be shirts with hoods with offerings from Fly53, plaid and jersey combination from Ambiguous and drill cotton and jersey from Insight.

My favorite pieces have to be the Insight Devil Red, Ambiguous Bennington and the Fly53 Devil Beard.

We are always getting asked what's new and whats selling so here's a little selection of what's really happening this season at sturban clothing.

Polo’s
The American icon, the polo shirt, is classic and preppy check Schwipe, Eleven, Insight and Fly53. The broad spectrum of new colours and stripes this season, making this classic item new again. Spring/Summer it is all about bright bold colours. They always look the biz when worn with shorts, cargo’s or jeans.

Opposites Attract
Striped shirts from Mada or Ambiguous this season with it’s sleeves rolled back to show the new contrasting pattern in the cuff. You will see many printed shirts with contrasting collars or cuffs, showing two different patterns or colours, but coordinated to look very modern. This kind of shirt would look very stylish worn with dark denim, to add some colour and print to the ensemble.

Shorts, Shorts And More Shorts
The season arrives with shorts in a variety of styles from Zoo York, Ambiguous and Mada. Cargo, walk shorts, and board shorts, all of these come in great washed neutrals and the new plaids. Wear these shorts with a graphic t-shirt or a contrasting woven. For swimwear or shorts to wear on the beach, try the new board shorts in plaid and mad nu rave, 60’s surf style prints.

Graphics on Jeans
Denim is a great way to express your style on casual days. It’s comfortable, and this season denim will be full of graphic details check King Apparel. You will find detailing and embroidery on the curved back pockets to add some style. The new Know1edge Diamond collaboration jean even has the Diamond script logo on the derriere. Or for that little extra styling check the double waists on the Orisue Stack Jeans. All these new jeans look great when worn with a shirt that includes subtle graphics.

Top Gun Style
Every man loves great sunglasses that are indicative of his personal style, while protecting his eyes from the summer sun. This season it is all about aviator sunglasses. They are modern and come in a variety of styles. This is a must-have accessory item for all men this season.

Dmote

Until recently many may not have been aware of the artist Dmote but in his homeland of Australia he is not just a badboy graffiti artist but an accomplished artist who's who apart from bombing the odd wall takes in screen printing, acrylic and sculpture. You may not be aware of the name but if you shop with The Urban Shop you may have already bought his designs because is has done work for both Insight and Schwipe both brands from his homeland and now Dmote as become part of the RVCA Artist Network Program ANP and this season sees the inclusion of allover prints on linings of jacket pocket bags in jeans and all over printed reversible hoodies.

Graffiti World by N Ganz has this to say about Dmote: "Dmote is a pioneer of the old Australian graffiti scene and is known for his ever-changing styles. Influenced by New York's semi-wildstyle, which started to emerge in the early 1980s, Dmote create his own individual versions with new techniques and current trends in mind. He has also been working on commissions and gets involved in exhibitions."
