Supernova - Lucas Rossi

Last week our man at Mada Raul checked out Tommy Lee’s band Supernova at the Long Beach arena. Mada are hyped that the lead singer and winner of Rockstar : Supernova Lucas Rossi put on a fresh new Mada tee for his performance. Head designer Alex De La Pena held it down backstage rapping out to all the hot ladies. He might of even got a number or two.

This was the first time I got a chance to check out Supernova live and I have to say that they put on a hell of a show and Lucas killed it and his rendition of Prince’s Purple Rain, it was one of the coolest things I have ever heard! After the great concert that Supernova and Panic Channel put on, Tommy had a gathering of friends backstage in his dressing room with the likes of Danny Bonoduce, Joe Rogan, Steve O and a slew of Hollyweird actors and musicians. There was no shortage of Grey Goose, bottles of champagne, and coldies.

What made the night even cooler was seeing Lucas backstage in another new Mada tee (the MADA warriors tee) and the Logo flex hat. Tommy was rockin the Mada Derby hat customized to his own liking. All in all, it was a great night!

Has ASOS done a Ratner?

A wikipedia definition “Doing a Ratner is a British business phrase referring to a chief executive or a senior person of a company who criticises the company's products or disparages the customers, frequently with disastrous results for both the person and the company.”

It seems has a major competitor of ours has indeed “Done A Ratner” check out what was said in NewMediaAge

"Next year we'll reintroduce affiliate marketing but as it should be, as opposed to affiliates as they were," said Nick Robertson, ASOS CEO. "[There'll be] no silly commissions being paid to grubby little people in grubby studios growing income at our expense, getting in the way of genuine sales."

Now we hardly want to sit here and gloat at this latest blunder but one has to question a company that can call people that are making them money (when you consider that affiliate marketing in most cases only pays out once a sale has been made) “grubby little people” I just have one question that I’m sure was in Ratner’s customers minds all those years ago WHAT DO THEY THINK OF THEIR CUSTOMERS? I’ll leave you with that one.

The Urban Shop Family

We have just uploaded “Both Sides of the Pond” Mixed by DJ4Ssho and Tricksta and hosted by Rated R and Jai Boo. This is the latest mix that Tricksta has given us for you listening pleasure and we have another 4 complete mixtape cd’s to upload and we will be dropping these on one a week over the next few weeks.

Some of you may not be in to UK Hip Hop but us uploading these is about family not Hip Hop. Whilst there’s a big family vide around hip hop we have been into the family thing most of our lives and we trace it back to our involvement in Chinese Martial Arts which was my personal drug and it took up my whole life. My involvement in the arts allowed me to meet many amazing people and see things that I would not even talk about but the one thing it taught me was FAMILY. You can go through life thinking you can buy whatever you want but at the end of the day you cant buy what’s not for sale and this is where family comes in. Tricksta is family he’s a strong background in hip hop and it’s his drug he lives it, he breaths it and the respect he gets back for everybody can be felt it’s that strong. For us our involvement with Tricksta, Wolftown and UK Runnings is not about hip hop it’s not even about music it’s about family helping family we aint band wagon jumping wee like hip hop but we also listen to jazz, dub, reggae, punk rock and anything interesting we can find, if you wanna become part of out family contact us make friends and let’s start building you may become family but not everybody will we’ve had loads of peeps wanting to cash in on us and what we do and this don’t work.

Urban Shop UKRunnings Mixtape - Review

Just in case you dont see One Week To Live here's a review of The Urban Shop / UKRunnings mixtape. Dont forget if you want a copy all you have to do is Buy clothing from Sturabn Clothing from either Ambiguous, Fly53, Mada or Planet Earth

Never one to miss an opportunity, Tricksta takes his long-running UK Runnings mixtape movement into the clothing sector. Manning the ones and twos on this occasion has the Wolftown commander rocking the freshest beats with the nattiest threads in association with Sturban Clothing. Aristocrats in street and skate apparel, the online retailer and Channel U chart sponsor is the source for all the garments and gear that turns heads. Think Fly53, Mada, Planet Earth, Ambiguous, Fenchurch, Addict and all that good stuff for those wanting to pop their collar and some such in the dandiest clobber going.

One Week to Live review by Matt Oliver
Anyway, enough of the plugging, onto the music. Anyone who’s copped a Tricksta tape will know what to expect and what has made his mix installments a long running success. And seeing as he’s not gonna fix a formula that ain’t broken, he pairs his Wolftown handpicks (the ever able 10Shott, Conman, Late and Jai Boo) with a heavy UK squad including Blak Twang, Ty, The Sundragon, The Blacknificent Seven, Doc Brown and Supar Novar. In between, Tricks’ mixtape faves such as Yogi, Swift It Major, TB and Reload represent, and Big Cakes looks to cook up beef with Ronald McDonald and Colonel Sanders. Bonus Urban Shop exclusives and freestyles come from The Devius, Kid Radical and Double E, who pays more attention than most to the job in hand by putting The Urban Shop into rhyme (never a bad tactic to try and blag some free threads). Really exercising his authority, Tricks gets his fingers dusty and drops a cheeky reggae set, bringing out some classic duck and dive from U Roy and Isreal Vibration. Business as usual from the Black Country ruler

Those little FLy53 monsters

The great escape is on would you believe it no matter how good Fly53 are these little monsters are still trying to escape. We found a gang loitering around the bins at the last FlyByNight so we rounded them up and were contemplating selling them into slavery but, they are pretty useless unless you count scaring small children, making bad smells and amusing noises in your list of top must haves. As a consequence we are giving them a way in pairs (even monsters need friends) in The Grand Urban Shop giveaway but be quick they could make a run for the hills.
