WESC Steve Aoki Pro DJ Headphones

This season saw WESC launch headphones and everybody just went long with it giving it little thought but when delivery time came they realised that they were massively over subscribed in fact WESC had orders for approx 3 times what they had made and so deliveries were cut and some distributor never mind shops didn’t get any. When they hit the shop it was the same customers were going mad for them and in fact most were sold before they arrive on the hype alone. So to The Urban Shop we have just put on site what we had delivered and were not sold before they arrived it’s the pro model and the most expensive WESC made we only have left the ’Steve Aoki Pro DJ (Steve Aoki aka Kid Millionaire) if you’re a serious DJ or are looking for that extra special present for somebody special these are the babies.

Also in some wicked trousers and cords just called the Standards the images on site don’t do a lot for them and they are quite minimal unless you study them but they’re nice little touches like the inside of the pocket rims lined in yellow tape, I’m having some cords, they are a relaxed but not loose cut. Also in Zoltan knitted jumper and beanies and scarfs

Downtime

As many of you will have noticed we were off line from Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon for scheduled maintenance. We actually moved the site to new hosting due to a few technical problems with our old host. I always love it when shop owners complain about how easy life is for internet retailers and how internet retailers have low if any overheads, I just wish that was true and if any of them would have liked to have swapped their last 2 weeks for mine they can have it. Anyway there are some new benefits for you customers with this new hosting the site should even more reliable, we have never had much downtime but we should now be up 99.something % of the time but the main benefit will be the site will be served faster as we have paid out extra cash to buy dedicated bandwidth to serve the site in fact:-

10,000GB (100Mbit) data unshared at 100Mbit speeds. (means nothing to me)

All this does mean that other development which should have been done and implemented by now have been put back yet another month but hopefully the new database will be live before December so we wont grind to a holt this year. There are other bits under development that you will notice other that reliability and speed so keep tuned they may come online one day.

NINETEENEIGHTYPHORIA

Arch manipulator, scoundrel, chief propagandist, provocateur, Shepard Fairey is the man many hail as the originator of the modern urban art scene and is an undeniable phenomenon. First coming to prominence in 1989 with his now ubiquitous ‘Obey Giant’ sticker campaign, the self styled phenomenologist has since gone on to become one of the most recognisable artists of the early 2000’s.

His work, a mixture of parody and protest, serves to subvert the very medium to which it attaches itself. Wall paper posters adorn advertising billboards that in his own words ‘market nothingness’ while large scale posters with the simple one word message ‘obey’ stir the bewildered masses. His unique use of stencils, collage, photography and painting have led to collaborations with among others, DJ Shadow, Interpol, Smashing Pumpkins and more recently the poster art for the Johnny Cash biopic, ‘Walk the Line’.

In more than a passing reference to the surveillance culture of Orwell’s 1984, Shepard brings his new exhibition ‘NINETEENEIGHTYPHORIA’ to London’s StolenSpace. Comprised of a range of artworks, from large scale multi media installations to smaller album screen prints Shepard’s artwork both scrutinises and distorts the narrative of the modern American Dream. Commenting on underpinnings of what Shepard terms the ‘capitalist machine’, it aims to critique those who support blind nationalism and war. Fairey addresses monolithic institutional authority, the role of counter culture, and independent individuals who question the cultural paradigm.

StolenSpace exhibits the artwork of a genre yet defined, influences from skateboard graphics, graffiti, illustration, comic books and tattoo art prevail in the often controversial work by these infamous and unknown artists who’s work embraces the urban environment and aesthetic, influenced by these underground subcultures where there are few rules and anything is possible. StolenSpace lets in the life-giving vitality of this environment that has been overlooked by galleries and museums for so long.

WESC and the Pepsi Premium Good Campaign 2007

Los Angeles, CA (September 7th 2007) We Are the Superlative Conspiracy WESC and Diet Pepsi, in conjunction with DJ Am and We activist Axis, to unveil Diet Pepsi Premium Good Collaborative Bottle this weekend- September 9th, 2007- at Pure Night Club/LAX in Las Vegas.

Swedish street-fashion brand, WESC has announced today the first of two official launch parties celebrating the release of WESC Diet Pepsi Premium Good bottle, designed by graffiti legend and We activist Axis.

Hosted by Program Ambassador DJ AM, Sunday evening’s red carpet event will take place during the MTV Video Music Awards and will include live sets by DJ AM, a guest performance by P Diddy.

“It was great that Pepsi wanted WESC to do this very special collaboration bottle. Axis did an amazing job, and as a result The Diet Pepsi Premium Good bottle has turned out better then we ever imagined, but what I think it’s the most important in this Premium Good collaboration is that we can bring together and support the accounts we work with in Las Vegas and New England and that it’s about charity as well. The party is a great excuse to get our We activits and network of friends and shops together for a very special WESC evening,” says WESC CEO and co-founder Greger Hagelin.

The Diet Pepsi Premium Good Campaign revolves around the practice and principles of image, taste and receiving the most out of life and style. Premium Good has identified categories representing the fabric influence in lifestyle. These categories are Auto, Denim, Lifestyle Shoe, Music and Fashion Collection. The campaign recognizes WESC’s reputation of delivering the ultimate in taste-making products and style, and has therefore chosen WESC as the program’s representative for Fashion Collection.

The 2007 Diet Pepsi Premium Good Campaign is a unique collaborative venue, mixing art, commerce and style, as reflected by WESC. To celebrate, WESC will invite 20 accounts, co-conspirators and We activists Axis, Chris Pastras, Amy Gunther, Jason Lee and others from San Diego to Las Vegas to join in the festivities.

Dmote

Until recently many may not have been aware of the artist Dmote but in his homeland of Australia he is not just a badboy graffiti artist but an accomplished artist who's who apart from bombing the odd wall takes in screen printing, acrylic and sculpture. You may not be aware of the name but if you shop with The Urban Shop you may have already bought his designs because is has done work for both Insight and Schwipe both brands from his homeland and now Dmote as become part of the RVCA Artist Network Program ANP and this season sees the inclusion of allover prints on linings of jacket pocket bags in jeans and all over printed reversible hoodies.

Graffiti World by N Ganz has this to say about Dmote: "Dmote is a pioneer of the old Australian graffiti scene and is known for his ever-changing styles. Influenced by New York's semi-wildstyle, which started to emerge in the early 1980s, Dmote create his own individual versions with new techniques and current trends in mind. He has also been working on commissions and gets involved in exhibitions."

MethodsNYC are too damn cool for their own good and now they are just rubbing our noses in it check this out it's massive and for the first time in my life I wish I were in NY for one night.

Summer is over and its time to celebrate the release of our Fall 07 Line which will be hitting The Urban Shop in late October. MethodsNYC are doing it bigger and better this time around, bringing you world-class talent to the newly renovated “Rebel NYC,” located 2 blocks from Madison Square Garden.

Afrika Bambaataa (Universal Zulu Nation) will be co-headlining with DJ HYPE (True Playaz/Ganja Crew) and MC Daddy Earl from the UK. Both of these men are true pioneers in their fields. Bam is the founder of Zulu Nation and is respectfully known as the Godfather of Hip Hop Culture and the Father of the Electro Funk Sound. This will be a night to remember, make sure you’re there to catch the set from the man that started it all.

DJ HYPE is one of the biggest Drum and Bass DJ’s in the World. He was winning DMC Competitions back in the late 80’s. Over the last two decades, HYPE has won Best Male DJ and Best radio DJ awards and is one of the main attractions on the London Radio Station KISS 100. He has produced countless hit tracks and owned several successful record labels. Hype is currently touring North America with well-reputed MC Daddy Earl, know best for his releases on Ganja Records and Frontline Recordings. Do not miss this rare chance to see DJ HYPE in NYC!

Jeru will be performing his new tracks from the new album along with some of his classic gems. If you’ve seen Jeru at any of our previous release parties, you can imagine how big this performance is going to be.

WESC Winter Jackets

Just arrived the aut/win 07 WESC collection, this brand is massive in Europe and we know that is loved on The Urban Shop but generally in the UK it's only the girls line that has be pushed and getting any publicity. WESC does a men's clothing range that can compete with any other brand, for me their knitwear is sic check the new arrival the Ernest 100% fine wool knit v neck jumper (personally I don't think the image does it justice) but if you know my fetish for knitwear you will trust me on this it's amazing. Also in 2 jackets a cotton parka and a wool mix duffel coat both are sweet and the parka can be seen above along with the totally mad allover printed Beppe Crew.
